Nogal Wiedes
CoffeeshopAbout
The name is a Dutch pun — nogal wiedes means "obvious" or "no surprise there," with wiedes doing double duty. It sits on Czaar Peterstraat, a revived shopping street in the Czaar Peterbuurt just east of the center, near the Eastern Docklands and a short ride from Centraal. The tram stops directly outside.
It's a small shop with a handful of tables, a bar and the basics: coffee, tea, cappuccino, and not much else — no munchies, minimal gear, a sports channel on the screen. What it is, essentially, is a neighborhood counter with somewhere to sit, and it's been that for a long time. Staff draw good notices consistently; one visitor staying nearby reports going in daily for a week.
Two things to know before you go. Pre-rolls here contain tobacco unless you check — at least one visitor got caught out badly. And prices sit at the higher end for this part of town, though loose trim is available cheap if you ask.
