Bagheera
CoffeeshopAbout
Named after the black panther from The Jungle Book, with a teeth-baring version of him on the logo — which is misleading, because the shop is one of the calmer rooms in the center. It sits on the Kloveniersburgwal just south of Nieuwmarkt, a couple of minutes from the square and around the corner from the Hash, Marihuana & Hemp Museum. It's been trading for over 30 years.
The front room reads more like a juice bar than a coffeeshop: clean, well lit, fresh fruit on the counter, and one counter handling drinks, smoothies and cannabis together. The drinks are a genuine draw rather than an afterthought — coffee, frappés and milkshakes all get repeat praise, and several regulars describe coming daily for a coffee as much as anything else. There's a small terrace outside, free Wi-Fi, and a Volcano vaporizer on the premises.
The menu covers flower, hash, pre-rolls, space cakes and cannabis tea, with ice-o-lator turning up periodically. Prices run from reasonable to normal-for-the-centre. There's a long-standing Italian-expat following.
