Hunter's North Papaverweg

Coffeeshop
About

Part of the Hunter's chain, one of the oldest and largest in the country — seven coffeeshops and a smoker-friendly bar across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem and Zandvoort. The name comes from a dog: the first shop opened on Warmoesstraat in the mid-eighties after the owner's dog, Hunter, marked the facade and the owner took it as a sign. He's still the logo.

The Papaverweg branch puts that chain into Noord's industrial-creative belt. Klaproos, the Skatecafé and the A'DAM Tower are all close, and NDSM Wharf — where DGTL and the ADE events happen — is a short ride west. The room is modern and comfortable rather than characterful, which suits the district; this is a stop before or after something else rather than a destination in itself. Budtenders get consistently strong reviews for talking people through the menu, and the shop rates unusually high across a large review base.

Getting there: bus 391 from Centraal stops directly outside at Mosplein. Bike, car or foot all work too.
