Family First
CoffeeshopAbout
Family First sits on the Amstel, two minutes from Rembrandtplein and six from Rokin, with a canal view from the window. The name is a memorial: the shop traded as Coffeeshop Bushdocter until 2018, and was renamed in honour of former owner Luca Moro after his death. Renovations have followed, but the green colour scheme it was always known for has stayed.
The presentation is the most modern of any shop in this batch — levitating specimen jars let you look at the flower before you buy. The menu is built for people who care: contemporary hybrids and US genetics dominate, with classics like Amnesia Haze still on it, a smaller but well-chosen hash list, and — unusually for Amsterdam — a genuine concentrates selection of waxes, rosins and live resins. That last part is rare enough to be the reason to come. It won at both the Jack Herer Cup and Clouds in the City in 2019.
It's small. Seating is limited and at peak hours the wait can run past half an hour. Come off-peak if you want to sit; otherwise treat it as a buy-and-go. Staff draw consistently strong reviews for patience under that pressure.
