New Times sits on Spuistraat a short walk from Dam Square, near the Spui end, on a stretch lined with restaurants and hotels. There's a second branch on Amstelstraat 35, near Rembrandtplein.

The main thing this shop has that most central shops don't is room: seating for around 45, plus a terrace. In a district where half the shops are standing-room-only and the other half fill by mid-afternoon, "you'll get a seat" is a genuine feature, and regulars say so explicitly. The room is done in soft lighting with a curated playlist, and the lounge, restrooms, Wi-Fi and card payment are all in place.

The menu covers both Dutch and California strains, plus hash, edibles and accessories, at prices reviewers consistently call reasonable for the location.
